Arietta is a Napa Valley winery founded by winemaker John Kongsgaard, his late wife Maggy, and Fritz and Caren Hatton. After acquiring Kongsgaard's share in 2005, Fritz and Caren became the sole owners. Fritz, who has a background in wine auctioning and a passion for European wines, emphasizes a style characterized by bright acidity and complex blends, primarily sourced from cooler climate vineyards in southern Napa Valley. The winery's name, "Arietta," reflects a shared love of music, with its label featuring notes from Beethoven's last piano sonata. Arietta began producing wine in 1996, with its first vintage being a red blend from Hudson Ranch in Carneros. The winery focuses on Bordeaux varietals, creating wines like the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are noted for their rich flavors and aromatic profiles. Tastings are by appointment at Hudson Vineyards, where Arietta has moved its production. The winery also produces limited releases, including the Arietta 88 Keys, and recently introduced the Nestweaver Pinot Noir.
