Belted Vines is located at Stewart Ranch, just south of Napa, California, and is owned by Ailene and Paul Tarap. The ranch has a rich history, dating back to 1903 when John Stewart purchased it. The property features an original house from 1895 and has been used for various agricultural purposes, including dairy farming, which was prominent until 1956. The Taraps raise Belted Galloway cattle, known for their distinctive appearance, and this breed inspired the winery's name. The winery was approved for a micro winery permit in June 2025, allowing for limited onsite wine production and tastings. They are currently renovating an old dairy building for this purpose. Belted Vines produces under 1,000 cases annually, with their first vintage, an Albariño, released in 2021. Their wines are crafted at Laird Winery by winemaker Allison Doran and include a Pinot Noir and Merlot, both from the Carneros region. Visitors can expect a unique tasting experience that honors Napa's history, with plans for an outdoor tasting area. The wines are available at select local retailers and restaurants.
