Castiel Estate

CA, CA

Castiel Estate is a winery located in Napa Valley, owned by Dave and Kathleen DiCesaris. Their journey into the wine industry began with a serendipitous encounter at Freemark Abbey, where Kathleen was working and Dave was a visitor. After retiring from a career in commercial leasing, Dave was encouraged by Kathleen to explore winemaking, leading them to purchase a 21-acre property on Howell Mountain in 2014, which they later expanded to 88 acres. The estate focuses on producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, with their first vintage released in 2014. Winemaker Celia Welch has crafted each vintage since then, utilizing grapes from both Cold Springs Vineyard and another premium Howell Mountain vineyard. The wines are characterized by rich flavors and complex aromas, showcasing the unique terroir of Howell Mountain. Visitors can expect a personal and intimate tasting experience, reflecting the couple's deep connection to the land and their wines. The estate is also committed to sustainable practices, aiming for a 'net zero' operation in the future. The winery's label design is inspired by their time in Italy and features an astronomical clock, symbolizing their passion for wine and art.
