Cervantes Family Vineyards, located in Pope Valley, Napa, is owned by the Cervantes family, originally from Mexico City. Proprietor Xavier Cervantes, alongside his wife Cecilie and their children, has a rich family history centered around food and wine. After years of searching, they purchased a 1,100-acre ranch in 2012, previously owned by the Hardin family, early settlers in the area. The property, which offers stunning views and a serene environment, has expanded from 35 to 90 acres of vineyards, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Sauvignon Blanc. The family began producing wine in 2015 with the help of winemaker Andy Erickson. They create two main wines each year: a proprietary red blend called Blacktail and a Cabernet Sauvignon named Cervantes. The wines are noted for their rich flavors and complexity. The family aims to use the property as a gathering place for family and friends, emphasizing the importance of community and connection in their winemaking journey. Visitors to the area can expect a quieter experience, as Pope Valley is less frequented by tourists compared to other parts of Napa Valley.
