Chappellet Winery is situated on Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley, a region known for its premium grape cultivation but not yet designated as a sub-appellation. Founded in 1967 by Donn and Molly Chappellet, the winery is one of the oldest family-owned establishments in the area, with a legacy tied to early Napa settlers. The winery's design was executed by Keith & Associates, known for their work with other notable Napa wineries. Chappellet specializes in Bordeaux varieties, with their first vintage being a Chenin Blanc in 1967, followed by a Cabernet Sauvignon in 1968. The winery employs holistic vineyard management practices, achieving organic certification in 2012. With a focus on sustainability, they utilize a solar energy system and a water purification system for irrigation. Visitors can enjoy guided tours and tastings by appointment, often featuring educational vineyard visits and tastings in intimate settings. The property includes scenic views of Lake Hennessy and the surrounding mountains. Winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus has been with Chappellet since 1990, contributing to the winery’s reputation for quality wines. The Chappellet family also engages in various artistic endeavors, enhancing the winery's cultural appeal.
