Napa Valley College Estate Winery, located in Napa, California, is part of Napa Valley College, which has offered viticulture and winery technology courses since 1984. The college, originally founded in 1942, established its teaching winery in 2002, becoming California's first community college with a bonded winery. The winery's first vintage was produced in 2008, and it has since become a significant educational resource, serving approximately 450 students in various wine-related programs. The winery's six-acre vineyard, planted with both Bordeaux and Burgundian varieties, underwent replanting in 2022 to focus on Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is situated in a cooler part of Napa Valley, influenced by nearby San Pablo Bay, which aligns with the winery's motto, "Bordeaux of Napa." Students gain hands-on experience in winemaking, with opportunities for internships and practical learning. The program has received substantial support from local vintners and has recently initiated construction on the Wine Spectator Wine Education Complex, enhancing its educational offerings. The winery produces a range of wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, showcasing diverse styles and flavors.
