Coquerel Family Wine Estates

Calistoga, CA

Coquerel Family Wine Estates, established in 2005 by Brenda and Clay Coquerel, is located on Tubbs Lane in Calistoga, Napa Valley. The winery began with the purchase of an existing vineyard and has since expanded to include 11 acres of planted vineyards, primarily focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Petite Sirah, and Tempranillo. The estate, known as Walnut Wash Vineyard, reflects the couple's passion for French wines, particularly from Bordeaux's Graves region. Brenda and Clay, both high school sweethearts from Texas, transitioned from their careers in dermatopathology to winemaking after falling in love with Napa Valley. Their daughter, Lily, joined the family business in 2022, furthering the legacy. The winery produces approximately 4,000 cases annually, with a strong emphasis on Sauvignon Blanc as their flagship wine. Coquerel collaborates with winemaker Christine Barbe, who employs traditional French techniques. The winery initially focused on white wines but expanded to include reds due to customer demand. Visitors can expect a range of wines that highlight both estate-grown and sourced varieties, including unique offerings like Verdelho, alongside more traditional varietals.
