Cuvaison Estate Wines is situated in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, directly across from the Domain Carneros winery. Founded in 1969 by Thomas Parkhill and Thomas Cottrell, the winery has a rich history, beginning with Parkhill's home winemaking in the 1960s. The name "Cuvaison" refers to the fermentation process that enhances wine's color and aroma. Their inaugural vintage was a Napa Valley Chardonnay in 1969, and they have since produced a variety of wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Originally located on a 15-acre property near Calistoga, Cuvaison opened for public tastings in 1971. Over the years, the winery has changed ownership, with the Schmidheiny family acquiring it in 1979. They expanded their vineyard holdings in Carneros, which now includes 125 acres dedicated to various grape varieties. A state-of-the-art winery was built on this estate in 2009. Cuvaison offers a visitor experience that highlights its historical significance and diverse wine offerings, making it a notable destination for wine enthusiasts in Napa Valley.
