ELLMAN Estate Winery, located near downtown Napa off the Silverado Trail, was established by brothers Neil and Lance Ellman, who emigrated from South Africa to the U.S. in 1974. The winery's roots trace back to their family's successful bedding business, which they sold in 2005, prompting their venture into winemaking. Initially sourcing grapes from notable Napa Valley vineyards, they later transitioned to producing estate wines after acquiring 20 acres of land, which includes historical structures and vineyards. The winery's design was approved by Napa County in 2019 and 2023, with construction completed in 2025. The first guests were welcomed in July 2025, marking a significant milestone in their winemaking journey. Their wines, crafted by renowned winemaker Andy Erickson, include varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc, with a focus on showcasing the terroir of their estate. Visitors can enjoy a unique tasting experience featuring Josephinenhütte stemware and art installations, including pieces by Andy Warhol. The winery aims to provide a blend of quality wines and a rich cultural experience, reflecting their South African heritage and commitment to Napa Valley winemaking.
