Elusa Winery, located on the grounds of the Four Seasons Resort in Calistoga, began producing wines in 2010 but did not sell any until September 2021. This unique approach allowed them to build an impressive library of wines prior to opening their tasting room. The winery's first vintages were crafted by winemaker Kirk Venge, followed by Thomas Brown, who has been the consulting winemaker since the 2012 vintage. Elusa focuses on showcasing the terroir of Calistoga, producing wines primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, sourced from various local vineyards. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes a minimalist approach, allowing the fruit's natural characteristics to shine through. The winery produces around 3,000 cases annually, with wines sold primarily through direct-to-consumer channels. Visitor experiences are by appointment only and include several tasting options, such as library wine tastings and vineyard tours. The winery features elegant hospitality spaces, including an outdoor courtyard and an intimate indoor room adorned with unique art. The Four Seasons Resort, which opened in late 2021, enhances the winery's appeal, offering a luxurious setting for wine enthusiasts.
