Behrens Family Winery, located on Spring Mountain in Napa Valley, was originally founded as Behrens & Hitchcock by Les Behrens, Lisa Drinkward, Bob, and Lily Hitchcock. The winery's roots trace back to 1991 when Les and Lisa opened a restaurant in Arcata, California, where they met the Hitchcocks. After transitioning from home winemaking to commercial production, they moved to Napa Valley in 1997 and established their winery on Spring Mountain in 1999. Following the retirement of the Hitchcocks in 2005, the winery was renamed Behrens Family Winery. The winery specializes in red wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon and various blends, sourcing grapes from multiple premium vineyards across Napa and Sonoma counties. Their production is around 4,500 cases annually, emphasizing artisan-crafted wines made by family members. The winemaking approach is characterized by a focus on ripeness and balanced acidity. In 2020, the winery suffered damage from the Glass Fire but has since been rebuilt. Visitors can expect a unique tasting experience, with wines often featuring artistic labels and engaging personalities. The winery's commitment to quality and creativity is evident in their distinctive offerings.
