Failla Wines, located along the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, was established by Ehren Jordan and Anne-Marie Failla, with Ehren now serving as the sole proprietor. His unconventional background in winemaking stems from a degree in Art History rather than formal enology training. Initially a virtual winery, Failla opened its tasting room in 2006 after acquiring property in 2004. The winery features a historic site with a 12,000 square foot wine cave and various tasting experiences, including options inside the cave and outdoors under redwoods. Failla specializes in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah sourced from cool climate vineyards across California and Oregon. The wines are characterized by lively acidity and balance, often un-fined and unfiltered to enhance flavor. Ehren emphasizes sourcing from cold climate vineyards, resulting in wines that pair well with food and are age-worthy. The property includes a small head-pruned Zinfandel vineyard planted in 2011, contributing to their Day Collection. Visitors can expect a cozy tasting environment reminiscent of a mountain lodge, with various tasting spaces accommodating multiple groups. Failla currently owns five vineyard properties, focusing on producing a diverse range of wines while maintaining a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
