Fantesca Winery is situated in the Spring Mountain District of Napa Valley, on a historic property where grapes were first planted in the 1860s. Founded by Susan and Duane Hoff in 2004, the winery was named after a character from Renaissance comedy, reflecting their desire for a more relaxed lifestyle after careers at Best Buy. The 53-acre estate features hillside vineyards primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside a small block of Petit Verdot. Fantesca's wines are crafted by renowned winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett, with the first vintage released under their label in 2002. The winery's cave, originally excavated by a previous owner in search of silver, now serves to age their wines and those of other premium brands. Despite the Glass Fire of 2020, the winery and vineyards were largely unharmed. Fantesca produces a range of wines, including a notable Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay that emphasizes varietal characteristics without heavy manipulation. Their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and the "All Great Things" blend showcase the winery's commitment to quality and creativity. Visitors can enjoy a unique tasting experience, including an annual "Hands on Harvest" event.
