Favia Wine, located in Coombsville, Napa Valley, was established by viticulturist Annie Favia and winemaker Andy Erickson, both of whom transitioned from non-wine careers to become prominent figures in the wine industry. Their journey began with experiences in France that ignited their passion for wine. Andy gained hands-on experience in Mendoza, Argentina, and later worked at esteemed Napa wineries, while Annie developed her viticulture skills under renowned winemaker Cathy Corison. In 2014, Favia purchased a historic 6.5-acre property that was once home to the Antonio Carbone Winery, established in 1886. The couple undertook significant renovations to preserve the site's history while upgrading the facilities. They opted to plant olive trees and a vegetable garden instead of vineyards, focusing on sustainable practices. Favia produces around 2,200 cases annually, emphasizing a hands-off approach in winemaking, using indigenous yeast and bottling their wines unfined and unfiltered. Their portfolio includes wines from both Napa Valley and the Shake Ridge Vineyard in Amador County. Visitors can expect a unique tasting experience, reflecting the couple's commitment to quality and their deep connection to the Coombsville region.
