Fiftyrow Vineyards

Napa, CA

FiftyRow Vineyards, established in 2002 by Paul and Marion Johnson along with winemaker Gary Galleron, is located in Napa Valley. Paul, who has a rich background in wine from his time in Europe, initially owned a wine shop in San Diego before transitioning to winemaking. He sought to create a wine brand and partnered with Galleron, who helped craft the early vintages. Over time, Paul took over the winemaking process for both FiftyRow and his larger production label, Smokescreen. FiftyRow focuses on producing balanced, food-friendly wines with an emphasis on subtlety and elegance. The winery sources grapes from notable Napa Valley vineyards and has expanded its sourcing to include regions outside Napa to maintain quality at reasonable prices. Their wines, including varietals like Charbono and Cabernet Sauvignon, are characterized by vibrant acidity and fresh flavors. Visitors can taste FiftyRow wines at Silenus Winery, a custom crush facility that allows picnicking and provides a relaxed atmosphere. The winery is noted for its commitment to quality and is recognized as an underrated player in Napa Valley's winemaking scene.
