Fortunati Vineyards is a small winery located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, owned by Ellen and Gary Luchtel. The couple, who met while studying business at San Francisco State, developed a passion for wine through extensive education and tasting experiences. They purchased a ten-acre property in Napa in 2003, which they transformed from brushland into a vineyard, planting varieties such as Syrah, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Their first wines were produced in 2009. The winery emphasizes handcrafted wines, focusing on balance and freshness, and produces limited quantities of 100 to 300 cases per wine. They sell directly to consumers, allowing them to keep prices reasonable despite receiving numerous accolades. In 2019, they built a small winery and hospitality space powered by solar energy, which also showcases art. Fortunati offers a diverse range of wines, including a rosé of Syrah, Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Rhone blend, all noted for their unique characteristics and food-friendliness. The winery's commitment to quality and variety reflects their enjoyment of different wine styles for various occasions.
