Frias Family Vineyards

Napa, CA

Frias Family Vineyard, located on Spring Mountain above St. Helena, is a family-owned winery established by Manny and Maria Frias in 1977. As one of the early Hispanic-owned wineries in Napa Valley, the Frias family has a rich heritage, with Manny's roots in Mexico and Maria's in Italy. Initially purchasing 100 acres, they transitioned from walnut farming to viticulture, planting their first vines in 1985 and releasing their first commercial wine in 1991. The vineyard spans approximately 20 acres, with a focus on precision farming to cultivate premium grapes, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, along with smaller amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The family emphasizes meticulous vineyard management and has evolved their winemaking techniques over the years, including the transition from American to French oak for aging. Currently, second-generation brothers Fernando and Manny Jr. manage operations, bringing creativity and enthusiasm to the brand. The winery produces a range of wines, including a notable rosé and various Cabernet Sauvignon offerings, characterized by fruit-forward profiles and approachable textures. Visitors can expect a welcoming experience, with wines that reflect the unique terroir of their hillside location.
