Gandona Estate is situated on Pritchard Hill, a notable area in Napa Valley known for its rocky, iron-rich soils. The property has a rich history, having been homesteaded in 1862, predating many nearby vineyards. The estate was originally planted in the early 1970s by Bob Long, with the first vintage under Long Vineyards produced in 1978. In 2006, Manuel and Cristina purchased the property, which spans 120 acres, with 17 acres currently under vine, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and a small block of Chardonnay. The winery features a state-of-the-art facility with 10,000 square feet of caves for aging wine. Winemaker Philippe Melka, recognized for his expertise, has crafted wines that balance elegance and structure, particularly from the challenging hillside terroir. Visitors can expect a unique tasting experience amidst stunning views of Lake Hennessey and the Napa Valley floor. Gandona focuses on sustainable practices, including dry farming and innovative weed management. The wines, particularly their Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, are noted for their complexity and depth, reflecting the estate's exceptional terroir.
