Gentleman Farmer Wines is a winery located in Napa Valley, founded by Joe Wolosz and Jeff Durham, who both have extensive backgrounds in hospitality and culinary arts. The winery began as a home winemaking project in 1999 and was initially branded as Poem Cellars before rebranding to Gentleman Farmer Wines due to trademark issues. They produce approximately 1,700 cases of wine annually, focusing on showcasing varietal characteristics with minimal oak influence. Their wine style is food-friendly, emphasizing restraint, brightness, and freshness rather than intensity. Key vineyard sources include the cooler regions of the Oak Knoll District and select sites in St. Helena. Notable wines include a Rosé of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay from the historic Muir-Hanna Vineyard, and a Merlot-dominant red blend. In early 2020, the owners purchased a Craftsman bungalow in downtown Napa, which serves as a tasting room and culinary space. They aim to create a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of visiting a friend's home, offering various tasting experiences by appointment. The winery is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, accommodating both reservations and walk-in visitors.
