Girard Winery

Calistoga, CA

Girard Winery, established in 1975, has undergone significant changes in ownership and wine production locations over the years. Originally founded by Steve Girard and his son Steve Jr. in Oakville, the winery was sold in 1996 to Leslie Rudd. After a period of inactivity, Pat Roney and partners acquired the Girard name in 2000, revitalizing the brand under Vintage Wine Estates. As of 2024, Jayson Adair owns Girard Winery. The winery is now located in Calistoga, having opened a new solar-powered facility in 2018, which includes approximately 5 acres of head-pruned vineyards. Girard focuses on limited production wines sourced from various Napa Valley appellations, including unique offerings like old vine Gamay and Mourvèdre. Tasting experiences are available by appointment, featuring a relaxed atmosphere with outdoor seating overlooking the vineyards. Girard's wines are characterized by high quality at reasonable prices, showcasing appealing mouthfeel and aromatic complexity. Their portfolio includes a range of varietals, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, each noted for its distinctive flavors and balance.
