Hendry Ranch Winery, located just north of the Carneros district in Napa Valley, has been owned by the Hendry family since 1939, making it one of the area's historical vineyards. The site has a rich history, with vineyards established as early as 1859 by brothers Frederick and John Sigrist. Over the years, the property changed hands several times, with notable owners like George Barth, who expanded the winery's operations in the late 19th century. The winery is currently managed by George W. Hendry's nephew, Mike Hendry, since 2001. The estate spans 203 acres, with 117 acres planted and organized into 49 distinct vineyard blocks, allowing for precise management based on varying soil types and microclimates. Hendry practices dry farming after the vines are established and has a state-of-the-art gravity flow winery. Visitors can enjoy a variety of tastings, including the Hendry Classic Tasting, which features 10-12 wines served in a relaxed setting. The winery previously offered in-depth tours led by George Hendry, known for their educational focus, but these are no longer available. The wines are characterized by innovative practices, such as using screw caps for certain varieties to enhance freshness.
