Hoopes Vineyard, located in the Oakville appellation of Napa Valley, was established in 1981 by Spencer Hoopes, who initially purchased a 10-acre vineyard. The property lies near historical sites linked to early Napa Valley settlers, including George Yount, who planted the valley's first grapes in the 1830s. After a career in law and entrepreneurship, Spencer transitioned to winemaking, and his daughter Lindsay took over operations in 2013. The winery primarily produces Cabernet Sauvignon, with a focus on quality and reasonable pricing. Their production has expanded to include various wines, typically between 2,500 and 3,000 cases annually. Notable offerings include the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc, characterized by tropical fruit notes, and the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its aromatic complexity and balanced palate. Hoopes wines were previously available at Napa Wine Co's tasting room but are now produced at Spelletich Cellars. In 2017, the winery acquired the former Hopper Creek Winery, enhancing its facilities. Visitors can expect a blend of historical charm and modern winemaking excellence at Hoopes Vineyard.
