Ink Grade Estate, located in the Howell Mountain appellation of Napa Valley, pays tribute to Theron H. Ink, a significant landowner from the 1800s. Acquired by Gaylon Lawrence in 2018 as part of the Heitz Cellars purchase, the estate spans approximately 800 acres, with 220 acres dedicated to vineyards. The estate grows a variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, and unique varieties like Carignan and Mourvèdre, all farmed organically and biodynamically. The winery emphasizes a visitor-friendly experience through its newly opened Pavilion, which features a contemporary tasting room designed to reflect the estate's character. The tasting experience includes a sensory room and guided tastings of their wines, which are crafted to offer richness and freshness. Notable wines include a Sauvignon Blanc with complex aromatics, a savory Zinfandel-Cabernet blend, and a structured Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases the estate's terroir. The wines are currently produced at Burgess Cellars, with plans to relocate production to the estate in the future.
