Jack Winery

Templeton, CA

JACK Wines, located in Napa Valley, was established by former Major League Baseball teammates Chris Iannetta and Vernon Wells, who bonded over their shared passion for wine during their rehabilitation from injuries. They were introduced to winemaker Grant Long, who crafted their wines from the inaugural vintage in 2012 until 2020. Long, known for his meticulous winemaking approach, emphasizes smooth finishes and careful oak integration. The winery's name is derived from the initials of the founders' children. Currently, there are four partners, including Steve Distler, who resides in Napa Valley. JACK Wines produces a range of varietals, including a rich 2016 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc and a 2022 Proprietary Red made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing ripe fruit flavors and gentle tannins. In addition to JACK Wines, the partners acquired the Two Old Dogs label, which produces wines like a medium ruby Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc from Yountville. While tastings are no longer held at their previous location in St. Helena, vineyard visits are available by appointment in the Oak Knoll District. The winery typically produces around 100 cases of each wine, with annual releases ranging from 300 to 500 cases.
