Jaffe Family Wines, previously known as Jaffe Estate, was established by Gary and Pam Jaffe and is now led by their daughter, Vida Jaffe, who manages marketing, sales, and winemaking. Located just south of St. Helena, their original vineyard was sold in 2020 to Sharon and Gary Lessing, who now produce a proprietary wine called CourAvant. The Jaffes initially purchased the estate in 1999, growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and sold grapes to Corison Winery before producing their own wines starting in 2005. The winery is known for its elegant, balanced wines with lower alcohol levels, making them food-friendly. Vida has introduced a sparkling wine, Apeiron, and a rosé, At First Blush, while also revamping the Chardonnay style to reflect Burgundian influences. The red wines include Transformation, a Bordeaux blend, and Metamorphosis, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. The Jaffe wines are crafted to represent their vineyard sources and personal preferences, showcasing a commitment to quality and balance. Visitors can appreciate the winery's unique offerings and the family’s passion for winemaking and astronomy, highlighted by a private observatory built on the former estate.
