JaM Cellars, located in Napa Valley, was founded by John Anthony Truchard, who has a diverse background in viticulture and winemaking. The winery's inception was driven by a need to sell excess Chardonnay, leading to the creation of the JaM brand, which stands for John Anthony and his wife Michelle. Initially producing small quantities, JaM Cellars rapidly expanded from 1,000 cases in 2009 to over 450,000 by 2015, primarily focusing on their popular Butter Chardonnay. The winery opened a tasting room in downtown Napa in 2016, designed to create a relaxed lounge atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy various wine flights and unique offerings like Jell-o shots made from their Syrah rosé. The tasting room also features live music sessions and interactive experiences, such as the Sip 'N Play, where guests pair music with wine tasting. JaM Cellars produces a range of wines, including their well-known Butter Chardonnay and limited production Napa Valley wines. The winery sources grapes from multiple regions, including Mendocino and Santa Barbara, and has gained a strong following, particularly among female consumers.
