Joseph Phelps Vineyards, established in 1973 by Joseph Phelps, is situated at 200 Taplin Road in Napa Valley, near St. Helena. The winery was sold to Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH) in mid-2022. Initially a construction magnate, Joseph Phelps transitioned to winemaking after recognizing opportunities in Napa Valley. He acquired over 600 acres of land, initially focusing on white wines before shifting to Bordeaux red varieties, which now dominate their production. The winery has undergone significant renovations, including the expansion of its hospitality center, which now features seven private tasting rooms and a culinary program launched in 2017. Visitors can enjoy personalized tastings, educational seminars, and stunning views from the terrace overlooking the vineyards. Joseph Phelps Vineyards is committed to sustainability, with initiatives in regenerative farming and biodiversity. The winery produces a range of wines, including notable Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its Sonoma Coast vineyards. Reservations are required for tastings, which typically include a selection of their wines and educational insights into winemaking and terroir.
