Kale Wines, established in 2008 by Kale Anderson and his wife Ranko, is located in Napa Valley. Kale, originally from San Diego and raised in Sonoma County, shifted from a pre-med path to winemaking after discovering his passion for wine at UC Davis. He has extensive experience in the industry, having worked at notable wineries such as J Winery, Colgin, and Pahlmeyer, and he now focuses on consulting through Kale Wine Consulting. In 2020, Kale and Ranko partnered with Fred and Trey Eppright, who acquired the former Dutch Henry Winery property near Calistoga, which was damaged in the 2020 fires. The Epprights plan to rebuild the winery and have replanted the vineyard. Kale Wines primarily produces Rhône varietals, with a new brand, Parable, focusing on Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting room, The Wine Thief, located in downtown Napa, offers a selection of their wines for tasting, with both walk-in and appointment options available. Kale's wines, including notable Chardonnays and Grenaches, are recognized for their quality and complexity, reflecting his versatile winemaking style.
