Keenan Winery is situated on Spring Mountain Road at an elevation of approximately 1,700 feet, embodying the essence of a hillside winery. Originally established as Peter Conradi Winery in 1890, it was later acquired by Robert Keenan in 1974, who revitalized the abandoned property. The winery remains family-owned, with Robert's son Michael now overseeing operations, supported by his children, Reilly and Madison. The winery spans 180 acres, with 57 acres dedicated to vineyards, where they cultivate a variety of grapes, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Keenan Winery is known for its balanced wines, emphasizing estate-grown fruit and unique varietals like Mourvèdre and Mencía. Their wines are characterized by a diversity of flavors and a focus on approachability. Visitors to Keenan Winery can enjoy a modernized tasting room, designed in 2015, which offers comfortable seating and panoramic views of the vineyards. Tastings may include a tour of the barrel room, where wines are aged in the original stone winery. The winery's commitment to quality and tradition is evident in their long-standing history and the craftsmanship of their wines.
