Ladera Vineyards, established in 1998 by Anne and Pat Stotesbery, is located in Napa Valley. The couple's journey into winemaking began during their college years, inspired by visits to the region. Initially, they operated a ranch in Montana before transitioning to wine production. Their first commercial release came from the 1999 vintage, with early wines made at Napa Wine Co. Ladera's property includes a historic 'ghost winery' on Howell Mountain, originally founded in 1886, which they acquired and transformed by replanting vineyards to focus on red varietals. In 2016, the Stotesberys sold their Howell Mountain property to The PlumpJack Group but continue to produce premium wines sourced from hillside vineyards across Napa Valley and a vineyard in Sonoma County. The winery emphasizes handcrafted wines that are well-balanced and age-worthy. Under winemaker Jade Barrett, Ladera produces limited production wines, including a variety of whites and reds, with tastings available by appointment at their Silverado Trail location. The tasting experience is personalized, typically lasting around 90 minutes, allowing visitors to engage deeply with their offerings.
