Lokoya Winery

CA, CA

Lokoya Winery, founded in 1995 by Jackson Family Wines, is located in Napa Valley and specializes in premium small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon sourced exclusively from select mountain appellations. The winery's name honors the Native American tribe from the Mt. Veeder area. Jess Jackson, the founder, aimed to highlight the best mountain vineyards in Napa, acquiring properties in the 1990s. Winemaker Chris Carpenter, who joined in 2000, plays a crucial role in crafting the wines, which are made from the highest quality fruit and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The winery's estate spans 77 acres, with about 25 acres planted to vines, producing primarily Bordeaux varieties and some Riesling. The property has a rich history, previously owned by Fred Aves and later by Angus and Margaret Wurtele, who renamed it Terra Valentine before selling it to Jackson Family Wines in 2013. Lokoya offers an intimate tasting experience by appointment only, featuring unscripted tastings that allow guests to explore the wines and the property’s history at their own pace. The tastings include current releases and library vintages, complemented by small bites prepared by a culinary team, all set in a contemporary space with scenic views of Napa Valley.
