Luscher-Ballard

Lüscher-Ballard Wine is located on Spring Mountain in Napa Valley, where Christina Lüscher-Ballard manages a 20-acre vineyard. After a career in film, she began her journey in winemaking in her 60s, purchasing over 70 acres of land in 1990. The property features rugged hillsides and diverse vineyard exposures, with much of it still forested. Christina was encouraged by local vintners to learn about viticulture, leading her to study at Napa Valley College. The winery produces primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot, and has a limited annual production of around 100 cases. Winemaking has transitioned from John Kongsgaard to Aaron Pott and Jean Hoefliger over the years. The wines are characterized by their complexity and balance, with notable examples including the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, which exhibits bright acidity and savory flavors. Visitors can find select vintages at local retailers and restaurants, though the winery does not typically welcome visitors. For more information, the winery's website is available for wine purchases and mailing list sign-ups.
