Brilliant Mistake Wines, established by John and Stacy Reinert in 2013, is located in Napa Valley, with a secondary home in Yountville. John, originally from Philadelphia, transitioned from a music career to managing a water utility, while Stacy shares a passion for baseball with him. Their interest in winemaking grew from visits to Napa Valley, where they connected with local winemakers and received valuable advice, particularly from Juan Mercado. The winery initially collaborated with winemaker Rebekah Wineburg for their first vintage, but after her departure, Maayan Koschitzky took over, bringing significant expertise from his work with prestigious wineries. Brilliant Mistake Wines focuses on small production, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, and offers a variety of wines, including a Sauvignon Blanc and a Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre blend. Visitors can taste their wines at select retail locations in Napa Valley and previously at the now-closed Heron House in Yountville, which provided a cozy tasting experience. The winery emphasizes quality and craftsmanship, with wines characterized by vibrant flavors and elegant textures.
