Mark Herold Wines is located in Napa Valley, specifically at the Herold House along Highway 29, north of Yountville. In May 2023, Mark Herold sold his brand to Brion Wise, who also owns BRION and B. Wise Vineyards. Despite the sale, Mark remains involved in the winemaking process. The winery's tasting space opened on April 17, 2025, and offers tastings of both Mark Herold Wines and Uproar Wines, attracting visitors from the nearby Mustards Grill. Initially, Mark Herold focused on sourcing grapes from various California regions, producing wines that often included lesser-known varieties. Over time, the winery has expanded its offerings to include several Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons. The tasting room features a selection of older vintages and wines made from grapes sourced from regions like Coombsville, Oakville, and Atlas Peak. Mark's background includes studying biochemistry at UC Davis and working at Joseph Phelps, where he developed a deep appreciation for Napa Valley grapes. His wines are characterized by a blend of traditional Napa varietals and unique selections, reflecting his commitment to quality and diversity in winemaking.
