Memento Mori

Los Angeles, CA

Memento Mori Wine, located in Napa Valley, was established by friends Hayes Drumwright, Adriel Lares, and Adam Craun, who share a strong bond dating back to their high school years in Texas. The winery's inception was inspired by a mutual passion for wine and a desire to create premium wines after they encountered vintner Juan Mercado. Their first vintage, produced in 2010 from grapes sourced from Andy Beckstoffer’s Georges III vineyard, yielded only 150 cases. Over the years, Memento Mori has expanded its vineyard portfolio to include prestigious sites like Vine Hill Ranch and Dr. Crane. Winemaker Sam Kaplan has been with Memento Mori since its founding, crafting wines that often blend grapes from multiple vineyards rather than producing single-vineyard designates. The winery also produces a limited amount of Sauvignon Blanc. In late 2022, Memento Mori acquired a 16.5-acre estate in Calistoga, which includes a historic farmhouse and plans for a small winery. The winery is committed to philanthropy through the Vida Valiente Foundation, which supports low-income students. Memento Mori wines are available through a mailing list, with a focus on high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon.
