Established in 1933, it was initially known as Sunnyhill Winery and later renamed Sunny St. Helena. The winery has a rich history, including partnerships with notable figures like the Mondavi family. In 1986, Bill Harlan and partners acquired the property, and after renovations, it was renamed Merryvale Vineyards in 1991. The current owners, the Schlatter family, took full control in 1996. They have since expanded the winery's vineyard holdings to 170 acres, with 42 acres planted. Notable vineyard sites include the Profile Vineyard in Conn Valley and the Altezia Vineyard on Mt. Veeder, which is among the highest vineyards in Napa Valley. Merryvale is known for its meticulous winemaking, utilizing small tanks for fermentation to enhance quality. Their wine portfolio includes a range of varietals, such as a unique Petite Arvine from Switzerland and various Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons.
