Milk Wines

Napa, CA

Bella Oaks Wine is situated on the west side of Rutherford, California, beneath the Mayacamas mountains. The 13-acre vineyard was established by Dr. Bernard and Ivabelle Rhodes, who were significant figures in Napa Valley's wine and culinary scene. They initially planted the site entirely with Cabernet Sauvignon, with their grapes first bottled by Heitz Cellar in 1973. The Rhodes were known for their hospitality, hosting many prominent chefs and gatherings at their home. After the Rhodes passed away in 2007 and 2008, the vineyard changed ownership several times, eventually being acquired by Suzanne Deal Booth in 2010. Under her stewardship, the vineyard has been replanted and is now certified organic, employing biodynamic practices. Bella Oaks produces around 1,000 cases annually, focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon and a newer companion label, Le Génie, which features a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The wines are primarily sold through a membership list and select Napa Valley retailers. The winery does not currently offer public tastings, maintaining a private status.
