Mount Veeder Winery

Mt Veeder, California

Mount Veeder Winery, established in 1973 by Michael and Arlene Bernstein, is located on Mt. Veeder in Napa Valley, California. The couple initially acquired land in 1963 and began planting vines in 1965, learning viticulture through hands-on experience and guidance from local pioneers. They were among the first to plant Petit Verdot in Napa Valley and focused on organic and dry farming practices. The winery's first commercial vintage was a Cabernet Sauvignon in 1973, and they were innovative in blending Bordeaux varieties in their wines. Over the years, the winery changed ownership, first sold to Henry and Lisille Matheson in 1983, then to Augustin Huneeus in 1989, and is currently owned by Constellation Brands since 1999. Although the winery is no longer operational at its original site, it maintains its bond and produces a limited amount of wine. Mount Veeder Winery offers a selection of wines, including a barrel-fermented Chardonnay and a red blend featuring Cabernet Sauvignon and other varietals. The wines are noted for their balance and complexity, reflecting the unique terroir of the region. Visitors can experience the winery by appointment, enjoying the scenic views and the quality of the wines produced.
