Newton Vineyard

Calistoga, CA

Newton Vineyard is a renowned hillside estate located just west of St. Helena, California, known for its exceptional wines and beautiful formal gardens. Founded in 1977 by Peter Newton, a pioneer in Napa Valley winemaking, the winery initially produced its first vintage in 1979. Following the devastating Glass Fire in 2020, which destroyed the original winery and much of the vineyard, significant reconstruction took place, relocating the winery and replanting vineyards. The estate spans 560 acres, with 487 acres dedicated to vineyards, showcasing a diverse range of elevations from 500 to 1,600 feet. Newton Vineyard produces wines under three labels: Unfiltered, The Puzzle, and Single Vineyard, emphasizing block-by-block farming and indigenous yeast fermentation. The wines are characterized by their vibrant acidity and balance, suitable for aging. Visitors can enjoy guided tours by appointment, which include walks through the gardens and tastings with stunning views. The winery has a rich history of winemaking, having trained several prominent winemakers, and continues to evolve under new ownership as of 2025, led by Nick Livanos and Eric Bryan Seuthe.
