On Q Wines, established in 2010 by Steve Baker, is located in Napa Valley, specifically in Browns Valley. Baker, who initially worked as a marine engineer, developed an interest in winemaking later in life after planting Syrah and Petite Sirah grapes at his home in 2003. He enhanced his viticulture knowledge through courses at Napa Valley College and gained practical experience by making home wine with the guidance of winemaker Mark Jessup. In 2022, On Q was acquired by Appellation Trading Company, founded by Charles Bartlett in 2008. The company has rapidly expanded, producing over 200,000 cases annually and managing nearly 40 wine brands. On Q focuses on crafting wines from cooler Napa Valley regions, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, and offers unique varietals such as a Grenache Noir made without skin contact. Visitors can taste On Q wines at Vintner's Collective, a tasting room in Napa that features a curated selection of boutique producers. The tasting experience includes a variety of flights, and appointments can be made for private tastings.
