Panek Vineyards, located in Napa Valley, was established by Jim and Cyndi Panek, who produced their first vintage in 2018. Originally from Chicago and Detroit, respectively, the couple developed a passion for wine after moving to California in 1982. They purchased a 22-acre property in 2000, which had previously been planted with diseased Cabernet Sauvignon and old Zinfandel. The vineyard was replanted with Sauvignon Blanc and Petit Verdot under the guidance of winemaker Philippe Melka. The winery produces small quantities of wine, with annual production of 50-70 cases of Sauvignon Blanc and 250-275 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon. Their wines are crafted by Thomas Rivers Brown, a well-regarded winemaker in Napa Valley. Panek Vineyards offers private tastings at Mending Wall Winery, where their wines are made, and has limited distribution in Texas, New York, and New Jersey. The tasting experience emphasizes the quality and character of their wines, which are aged longer than typical for the region, showcasing a commitment to craftsmanship and excellence.
