Perliss Estate Vineyards is a family-owned winery located in the northern Napa Valley, near the Sonoma County line. Established by Herbert Perliss, who originally used the property as a weekend retreat, the vineyard was planted in 2008 with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon under the guidance of renowned winemaker Aaron Pott. The estate features a unique micro-climate, cooler than nearby Calistoga, which contributes to the quality of its wines. The vineyard spans 2.6 acres and produces limited quantities of wine, typically several hundred cases annually. Perliss Estate is known for its complex wines, including a skin contact Sémillon called SNAKESKIN and a Bordeaux-style Sémillon. The winery also utilizes traditional Tuscan clay amphorae for aging, enhancing the wine's texture and flavor. Perliss Estate wines are selectively available in restaurants and retail outlets in Napa, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, with plans for broader distribution. The winery is part of the Mercury Wine Syndicate, a network of boutique Napa Valley producers. Perliss Estate offers membership allocations for those interested in their limited production wines.
