Philip Togni Vineyard

St Helena, CA

Philip Togni Vineyard, located in Napa Valley's Spring Mountain District above St. Helena, is one of the region's older wineries, established by Philip Togni and his family in 1975. The vineyard, which began planting in 1981, focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, with a commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Philip Togni, who has extensive winemaking experience dating back to 1954, remains active in the winery alongside his wife Birgitta and daughter Lisa, who is now the primary winemaker. The winery is self-contained, managing all aspects from vineyard care to bottling, and it emphasizes quality and consistency in its wines. The estate produces a flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its aging potential, and a second label called Tanbark Hill, which is produced in limited quantities. The winery's unique hillside location contributes to its microclimate, enhancing the character of its wines. Visitors can expect a scenic drive to the winery, which is embedded in the hillside, providing a cool environment for winemaking. The Togni family prioritizes a hands-on approach, ensuring that their wines reflect the terroir of their estate.
