Plinth Wine is located on Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley, originally part of the former Nine Suns Winery, which was purchased by the Chang family in 2010. The family, including Jason Chang and his wife Flora, transitioned from non-wine backgrounds to develop the winery and brand, learning about winemaking over the years. Initially, they sold grapes from the property, which was planted in 2004, before producing their first commercial wine in 2012. In June 2022, Nine Suns was acquired by Realm Cellars, but Plinth maintains a long-term contract to source grapes from the Houyi Vineyard. Plinth's inaugural vintage was in 2017, producing wines that emphasize elegance over power. The winemaking is overseen by Philippe Melka, with a focus on balanced, nuanced wines. Notable offerings include the 2022 Wayfarer Sauvignon Blanc and various red blends, showcasing a range of flavors and aromas. Although the winery does not have a permanent tasting room, Flora may arrange tastings at local restaurants in Napa Valley.
