PROMISE Wine is a boutique winery located in Napa Valley, founded in 2004 by Stephen McPherson, who was inspired by his family's early exposure to wine in Paris. The winery's name reflects a promise made to his wife to pursue winemaking, with the label symbolizing his wedding ring. Initially, PROMISE sourced grapes from Rich Frank's Winston Vineyard in Rutherford, producing Cabernet Sauvignon until 2014. Since then, the winery has transitioned to grapes from The Terraces and Stagecoach Vineyard, with Kirk Venge as the winemaker. In 2019, PROMISE acquired a 100-acre property on Pritchard Hill, where they planted Sauvignon Blanc in 2022 and plan to add Cabernet Sauvignon in 2025. The winery also produces a limited-release bourbon, honoring McPherson's great-grandfather. PROMISE is known for its Pinot Noir from the Bucher Vineyard and a range of blends, including the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant "the gratitude." The wines are crafted with a focus on quality and terroir, showcasing a blend of California and French influences. Visitors can expect a personalized tasting experience, reflecting McPherson's deep connections within the wine community.
