Quintessa Winery, established in 1989 by Chilean vintners Agustin and Valeria Huneeus, is situated on the west side of the Silverado Trail near Rutherford. The estate spans 280 acres, with 135 acres dedicated to vineyards. Notably, Quintessa is unique in Napa Valley for producing only one wine annually, a Cabernet Sauvignon, with no second label. The winery's first commercial vintage was released in 1994. The Huneeus family has a rich history in the wine industry, with Agustin having previously led Vina Concha Y Toro, Chile's largest winery. The winery employs organic and biodynamic farming practices, focusing on soil health and sustainable methods. Their philosophy emphasizes that fine wine reflects its terroir, supported by extensive soil research conducted by experts. Visitors to Quintessa can enjoy a serene experience, starting with a guided tour that includes stunning views from the winery's hillside. Tasting experiences are held in elegant glass pavilions designed to blend with the landscape, allowing guests to connect with the vineyard environment. The winery's architecture is designed to be unobtrusive, harmonizing with its natural surroundings.
