Initially perceived as lacking water, they successfully drilled wells, allowing them to plant their vineyard in 2001, which now features three clones of Cabernet Sauvignon across five acres. The vineyard is named after family members, reflecting their deep connection to the land. The winery produces a limited annual output of around 200 cases, focusing on estate-grown wines. Their first commercial vintage was released in 2008, and since then, they have transitioned to exclusively bottling Napa Valley wines. Hannah Rahn, their daughter, took over winemaking in 2019, continuing the family legacy. Rahn Estate offers a personalized visitor experience, emphasizing direct-to-consumer sales and hosting tastings. They also provide vineyard development and irrigation management services, utilizing technology to enhance vineyard management while maintaining a hands-on approach.
