Relic Wines, located in Napa Valley, was established in 2001 by Michael Hirby and Schatzi Throckmorton. After working at Behrens & Hitchcock Winery, he launched Relic Wines, producing its first eight vintages there. Schatzi, who has a background in African history, also worked at Behrens Family Winery and manages Relic alongside Michael. Relic Wines emphasizes traditional winemaking techniques, including foot stomping grapes and fermenting with indigenous yeasts. Their portfolio features wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Rhône varietals, sourced from unique vineyard sites in Napa and Sonoma. The winery produces around 2,500 cases annually, focusing on hand-crafted wines with attention to detail and texture. Visitors can expect a personalized tasting experience, often highlighting the winery's historical philosophy reflected in their labels. The winery's cave, established in 2015, offers scenic views and a unique setting for wine production.
