Retro Cellars

Angwin, CA

Retro Cellars, located in Napa Valley, is a family-owned winery founded by Mike and Kara Dunn. Mike, the son of renowned winemaker Randy Dunn, serves as the winemaker and vineyard manager, while Kara oversees sales and marketing. The winery focuses primarily on Petite Sirah, alongside a few other red varietals, and notably does not produce Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard, situated at approximately 1,800 feet elevation, has a history of low yields due to its old vines, which were replanted in 2016. Retro Cellars also produces unique wines from Peloursin, a lesser-known grape variety, and recently ventured into sparkling wine using this grape. Visitors can expect a personalized tasting experience, as the winery produces only a few hundred cases annually, with limited distribution. The wines are characterized by moderate alcohol levels and traditional winemaking methods, reflecting a commitment to quality and family heritage. Retro Cellars offers a wine club called Mountain Keepers for enthusiasts interested in their releases.
