Richard Partridge Wines

St Helena, CA

Richard Partridge Wines, established by Richard and Cris Partridge, debuted with a Cabernet Sauvignon in 1998. Richard, who passed away in 2025, previously founded R.F. Partridge & Associates, a company specializing in industrial power generation. The couple, drawn to Napa Valley's wine culture, purchased a home in the area during the 1990s and later acquired land in the St. Helena sub-appellation in 2004. They planted a vineyard in 2008, growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Verdot, while also sourcing grapes from premium vineyards. Their winemaking journey began with Bob Eglehoff and transitioned to Jeff Fontanella in 2005, who has a background at notable Napa wineries. The winery produces a limited quantity of wines, typically under 500 cases annually, focusing on Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are characterized by ripe fruit flavors balanced with acidity, showcasing a commitment to quality. Richard Partridge Wines primarily sells directly to consumers, with limited distribution in select areas. The winery does not have a public tasting room, reflecting its intimate production scale.
